I’ve had a bit of a sad day starting with reading about Omar Khadr’s decision to plead guilty on all charges made against him and now with the news that nut job Rob Ford is the new mayor of Toronto. So my solution is to write fluffy blog posts about lame and superficial things that don’t matter to anyone but myself (yes, I do know how self-deprecating that sounds).
I’m not a huge fan of internet memes … well I am, but not ones that I have to participate in myself but I thought this had the potential to be kind of fun so I’m going to try a 30 day photo challenge, with some variations of my choosing. I encourage some of my lovely friends with blogs (randomly placed, long walks on the beach, ori le, baji) to join me, that would make me really happy.
Day 1: a picture of yourself with 15 facts
1. I have wild, freeing, non-judgmental dance parties in my chair on a daily basis. I am having one right now.
2. I really like snow globes. Whenever I come across one, I physically cannot stop myself from having to pick it up and shake it and then watch the flakes slowly fall. It calms me.
3. I’m already stuck writing these stupid facts. I am currently eating jelly beans. The last one tasted like watermelon.
4. My only wish right now is to have a reason to leave. And time will tell if that will happen.
5. I spent most of my days making music compilations in my head, watching various movies and TV shows online and sporadically going to the gym when I don’t feel completely lazy and useless.
6. I know the most incredible people in the entire world. Except I don’t get to see them as often as I would like to … probably because I live like a hermit.
7. Currently, my favourite thing to watch are old episodes of Never mind the Buzzcocks. It combines my love for British people, funny banter and music. And I loooove when they do the intros game. It’s amazingly fun.
8. I just got distracted for a long time watching Stephen Fry on NMTB. I totally forgot about this post and watched two episodes. I love this show so much. Okay, getting back to it.
9. I’m either getting tired or I truly cannot come up with 15 things to say about myself. I think it’s a bit of both. How about 10? Whatever, I make the rules. Also, I think pretty much every song by Belle & Sebastian is perfection.
10. I hate making lists about myself. It’s my least favourite, most boring thing to do ever.
Day 2: A picture of you and the person you’ve been closest to the longest.
This is a picture of Asmaa and I when we were 13 or so at a school picnic or something (sorry Asthma, but you got a full warning of how awesome and embarrassing this picture was going to be). I should also note that I am wearing tear-away track pants. I find that so weird. Mostly because I cannot imagine myself wearing track/jogging pants in a public place. Not that I dress very formally at all, but just never in anything that casual. Also, I’m sooo glad I got over the whole black scarf thing. I can’t stand wearing plain black scarves anymore, just as much as I hate wearing solid white scarves. Anyway, me and Asmaa are still super amazing together. Especially when we go on walks, eat at food courts and swing on swings to replace working out.
Day 3: A photo of the cast of your favourite TV show.
It’s no surprise that I freaking love TV a lot. I always have. I love the best and worst parts of TV and could probably watch it all day and night if I let myself. My sisters would make fun of me when I was a kid because sometimes when we were watching a show, instead of waiting until the commercials to go to the bathroom, I would get so absorbed in the commercials that I liked, that I would forget I had to go and then end up going when the show came back on. I’m sort of glad I don’t watch that many crappy shows anymore, because even though I watch a lot, it’s all quality stuff, okay except for Sister Wives or the occasional episode of X-Factor (yes the British singing competition show).
So in honour of my obsession with TV, here is the cast of one of my favourite (Canadian) TV shows of all time, Twitch City, which stars Don McKellar as a character named Curtis who is also obsessed with TV. And Callum Keith Rennie is in it (in several episodes anyway), who is eternally attractive. Oh and it’s super funny and weird and really good and set and filmed in Toronto.
And there you have it folks. It was a struggle to make this happen since I got distracted with phone calls, msn chats, facebook, YouTube and everything else in the whole world that is more interesting than this blog. But I’m sure I will continue with this challenge. Or at least force myself to.

Thanks for posting this, mostly because I have a major bout of cabin fever and I need something to distract me. And now I shall do it (since you tagged me
never heard of ‘twitch city’ – will have to check it out sometime.
i’d be happy to make you happy. are there any guidelines or is it just a-pix-a-day with some commentary?
I found you googling that B&S lyric, then saw your header, then read your post. I LIKE YOU ALREADY!
I think I might copy that challenge, since I’ve never seen it around before.
Haha! Thanks! It’s a fun challenge, you should totally do it! I hope you keep reading
